Geneva is small, expensive and extremely well connected — which makes it a good base as well as a destination. Two days in the city plus one day trip into the Alps or to Annecy is the right shape.

June to September for lake swimming and clear mountain days; December for markets and skiing within an hour. April and May are quiet and cheap but changeable.

International Geneva and Bains des Pâquis
- Morning
- Palais des Nations tour and the Red Cross Museum.
- Afternoon
- Swim and sauna at Bains des Pâquis, the city's lake baths.
- Evening
- Fondue at Bains des Pâquis' own restaurant in winter.
Alps day trip
- Morning
- Chamonix by bus (about 90 minutes) and the Aiguille du Midi cable car — or Annecy for the old canals.
- Afternoon
- Mountain lunch and the Mer de Glace train, or Annecy lake by pedalo.
- Evening
- Back to Geneva.
